What it does
Bird Song Explorer automatically updates with a real bird from around the world. Insert the card into your Yoto Player or open it from the Yoto app and press play; every day the card updates with a new bird (12:00 UTC).
Each day has four tracks: a welcome, the bird reveal, an educational guide with facts sourced from Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and an outro with challenges. Aimed at ages 3 to 8, no screen time required.
The maker has moved away from TTS and now records all narration herself, sometimes with her two boys. Built with Xeno-Canto, the Yoto API, an IP geolocation API, Google Cloud APIs and Canva, and described as a stateless service with no personal data storage.
