What it does
Backyard Birds generates a personalised Yoto card for birds recently sighted near you. Open Yoto.fm, log in to your Yoto account, enter your location and generate your own card with stories, icons and bird songs.
It is built using Elixir, OpenAI (to generate scripts) and ElevenLabs (to narrate stories), with eBird, Xeno-Canto and OpenStreetMap behind the scenes. The maker's site says it was voted Community Choice Winner in the Yoto 2025 Developer Challenge.
Yoto.fm is operated by Last Byte LLC and states it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Yoto Limited.
